Partnerships 4 Families, early childhood service providers and the libraries of Greene, Audubon, Carroll and Guthrie Counties have joined together for an outreach project that will get early childhood information into the hands of parents who visit their library.
In a recent needs assessment Partnerships 4 Families, the local Early Childhood Iowa area, found that young parents don’t utilize the newspaper, radio or other traditional source for information. A group of early childhood providers in each of the counties P4F serves came together to think of new approaches of getting materials into the hands of young parents. The most likely collaboration was with the local libraries.
Families often frequent the library for story time or to check out books. Now they can also use their library as a source of information about early childhood programs in their area. Displays will be placed in the children’s section of the libraries that have chosen to participate. If parents don’t see a display they should ask their librarian where it might be located.
P4F is also in the process of updating its website. Parents and community members can use the site as a place to connect to all the early childhood services and information in the counties that P4F serves.
